Into The Archive: The Classic Rocking Chair at Expo67
Expo 67 was widely considered to be one of the most successful world's fairs of the 20th century. 62 nations participated and the fair set the single-day attendance record with 569,500 visitors on its third day.
Expo 67 featured 90 pavilions representing, nations, corporations, and industries including the U.S. pavilion, a geodesic dome designed by Buckminster Fuller.
A mini-rail train passed through the U.S. Pavilion, within were six levels of exhibits connected by escalators. The Theme was "Creative America - the positive use of creative energy".
Mel's Classic Rocking Chairs were chosen as seating in the VIP Waiting Room on the ground floor of the U.S. Pavilion.
The US Pavilion was the third most popular at the Expo, with several million visitors over the six month duration.
